Deciding moment: I was always intrigued with different hairstyles since childhood. I was always fixing my friends hair and make-up in middle school through high school. Playing dress up was from head to toe for me. I guess it’s in my blood. I love to enhance beauty, or do wild makeovers just for the fun of it.
Best haircut styles: The best hairstyles are the ones that make a client feel great. Confidence is installed and they can manage with their personal lifestyle. Whether that means a high maintenance, funky, fun, flirty or classically beautiful. You have to decide what works best for each individual.
Additional training: Numerous Matrix color classes for various techniques. I have also taken an abundance of color correction classes. Chi cutting classes and Updo workshops. MAC make-up workshop.
Other hobbies: I am extremely social. I love to be out and about. I love to travel...anywhere! I also enjoy the water i.e. the beach, river or the pool. I am also a bit of an underground music junkie, so urban clubs is where to find me at night.
As a stylist, what information would you like to share for others out there that are considering going in to this field: You must have an open mind, a backbone and a love of people. It is an ever changing field so education never stops. Also be creative and take chances! It is an amazing career and every day is different than the last. Making clients feel good inside and out is an accomplishment in itself, but creating art makes you feel good as well. Oh and wear comfortable shoes!
Top three suggestions for manageable hair: The correct products for daily use. A style that suits their lifestyle and budget. Regular conditioning treatments.
Favorite Hair Product: Shine spray! It gets rid of frizz on dry or curly hair. Or just adds shine to the new color I created. Oribe texture spray – crazy texture with some hold, great for glamour curls or a textured bob.
Favorite Styling Tool: A round brush, because it gives your hair volume and smoothes at the same time. I use a round brush to finish a style/color on every client.
